Bang the drums October 11, 2011

I’ve been starting working with drums this morning. Making a simple loop and playing around with sounds and effects. I used some of the samples I told you about a while back, initially processed through an SP1200, and finally used my Geist software sampler.

Guess I’m going now to do a few beats the following days, before applying ideas to the upcoming songs.

Of course I’ve been a little bit curious about how some use drum machines and samplers, and I couldn’t help but being impressed by those E-mu SP12 and SP1200 vintage samplers… Let’s see them in action :

Of course I don’t consider buying that drum machine, it’s quite rare and expensive these days. And I already had hardware drum machines and always felt embarassed to finalize complete projects… A question of workflow and method, probably…

Anyway this stuff is quite inspiring… So I started playing around with a drum beat this morning…
