You know, I asked you about music genres etc. a couple of weeks ago. I actually decided to ask a professional reviewer to write something about Untimely Tales. I think it was a good idea, for I got a clear insight and possible pitches in order to introduce my music. Here is an excerpt :
“French artist Burzinski brings forth a unique and inspiring artistic experience with his album Untimely Tales. Slightly psychedelic and brimming with gothic romanticism, Burzinski takes listeners into another realm of consciousness with his melodious and hauntingly beautiful voice. The melancholy trance-inducing music that he has created is original, artistic, and resonating with dark seduction. Listeners beware: You will get taken on a musical journey with Burzinski through Untimely Tales”.

Something happened yesterday. My songs are playing on Jango, an online radio. Because you liked some songs, shared your thoughts and wrote comments, I reached the weekly PopScore Top 5. Wow, It just means we made it together. The only thing I can say is “Thank you” !

In the meantime, I’m still working on the forthcoming 5 tracks EP, Ghostly Female Faces. I didn’t achieve what I expected to, of course, but almost. 4 song structures are now done, just one left before starting working on drums. I’ve been busy last week-end, but the next one is going to be dedicated to it. I think I’ll even be able to already define the tracklist.

I really feel confident with finalizing the arrangements and recordings by the end of august. I’m on holidays by the end of the next week, for three weeks, and two of them will be dedicated to music. And of course, because of that Jango Top 5, I’m feeling more and more confident with what I’m trying to do.
Cheers !

I woke up at 6.30 this morning. It’s been a long time it didn’t happen. For a year or so. Of course I tried these last months but it was hard for me. Anyway, it means I’ve been able to work on music for an hour. Glad for I should do it again every day until I finish the EP.

I started working on the songs, last week-end, focusing on selecting drum samples, and on song structures. I even recorded a (bad) rough demo for Ghostly Female Faces. A good starting point. Now I can only do better. I even stupidly lost a good sounding loop, forgot to save it… What a shame… Just have to find to samples combination again…

I was wondering about color photography. I love black and white instead. I focus on the details of the picture, not the shiny colors. I still hope it’s going to be the same for my music. Focusing on the heart of the song, the basic structure and melody. The more simple the better. That’s what I tried to do when I wrote those songs, and I always hope I’ll have almost nothing to add in order to hide defaults.

I expect to finish building a song structure for each track tomorrow morning, then will have to record a dummy vocal track in order to find out arrangements around. And find the good rythm loop. And this time, I’ll try to work more with contrasts. As in photography when white contrasts with black. Silence should contrast with sound…
Unfortunately I’ll be busy this week-end, no time for recording. I should wake up early tomorrow once again… I guess I will… I’m going ahead…

It took a little bit longer than I expected. But I finally wrote those two songs in order to fill that 5 tracks EP project. Of course there’s still a lot to do, but the first stage is over. Songs written…
The EP will be titled Ghostly Female Faces. And the tracks are : The River, Ghostly Female Faces, A Useless Tale, Broken Windows, For Obscure Reasons. Don’t know yet about the tracklist, of course…
Now I have to arrange and record them… I expect to finish recordings by the end of August, in order to send the tracks to the mastering studio, and then release the EP in october. A goal I hope I’m going to be able to reach. Of course I don’t have the time I had for Untimely Tales. On the other hand it’s now easier for me to avoid lots of issues I experienced… So let’s see… let’s see…
Will it sound the same ? I guess it’s going to be close… considering I’m still using mellotrons… But each song has its own identity, I guess… It might be slightly different. On the other hand I consider this EP as an “Untimely Tales” little brother. Three of those songs were written for the album, actually…
And a few more pictures shot… before Lisbon… in Paris… back home, in a way…

Do you plan some holidays this summer ? I hope so… I won’t have much, but I have to work on that EP, right ? Some sort of different holidays and dreams… Curiously a rainy summer could sound fine for me… Talk to you later…
