Mixing Untimely Tales

November 24, 2009Mixing Untimely Tales

It’s been a while I didn’t write anything here… As I finished the recordings last week I jumped into mixing the songs, which are now about half-mixed.
Volumes, frequencies, panning are almost set, i’ve got now to use automation tricks on volume and frequencies in order to add more dynamics.

The most surprising is the song I decided to choose for mix comparison. The goal is to have an overview of the different elements of the mix, and not being lost into issues such too many bass, muddy sounds, etc…
Surprising because I chose a different music style : “Scarlet Fields” from The Horrors… Well, inspired by Joy Division, produced by Geoff Barrow from Portishead… maybe not so far in a way… anyway…

What’s next ? when finished the songs will have to cross the Atlantic to Los Angeles for a mix consultation, then i’ll probably have to change a few things… Then mastering after that…

Talk to you soon…
